Devil's Ivy
Epipremnum Aureum
The good old Devil’s Ivy – she climbs your shelves, cascades from cupboards, and sticks with you through thick and thin. She survives shadow and neglect, as long as you don’t drown her. Cynical and tough, she purifies the air without even trying. She’ll outlast your resolutions, and maybe your furniture, too.
Growth: Fast. With proper care, she’ll spread like an old friend who’s made herself a little too comfortable. Grows 30-60 cm a year. She’s coming for your apartment.
Fun Facts: Filters toxins from the air. Likes moderate moisture. Propagate from cuttings. Won’t bloom indoors. She’s the Devil’s Ivy, not a saint.
Toxicity: Toxic. Contains calcium oxalate crystals, causing mouth irritation, vomiting, and swelling if eaten. Just… don’t eat the Devil’s Ivy. She bites back.
For beginners and the forgetful. She's the creeping immortal.
Bright to semi-shaded spots. Ideal by east or north-facing windows. Tolerates low light. Prefers temperatures between 18-24 °C; no chills below 15 °C and no drafts. She wisely avoids the sun.
